Information about the project:
A Sussex-born blueprint for nationwide river recovery.
The Adur River Recovery is a land-manager-led project that aims to revitalise and restore the River Adur to improve water quality, biodiversity and resilience to drought and flooding. The nationally important project is led by Knepp Wildland Foundation, working closely with delivery partners from the Ouse & Adur Rivers Trust, Sussex Wildlife Trust, Adur District Council and Horsham District Council.
One element of the project is talking with and involving the local community. This walking tour will provide an opportunity to hear more about the innovative project. Stops along the walk will include Pad Farm, land purchased by Adur District Council with the aim to create saltmarsh intertidal habitat. The second stop is Bramber Brooks, purchased by Horsham District Council to continue to protect and enhance the natural wetland habitat there.
Pete King, Director of the Ouse & Adur Rivers Trust, will share details of the project and discuss the bigger picture of the impacts of climate change on the Adur River landscape. You will also hear from Pete Crawford, Horsham District Council’s Parks and Countryside Manager, about the next steps and opportunities at Bramber Brooks.
